Happy Presidents’ Day

-Posted by Jon Lunger, ArtsQuest’s Marketing Manager and registered voter.

Happy Presidents’ Day.

To celebrate, I thought I’d drop a little American historical art knowledge on you.

By now, we’re all familiar with street artist Shepard Fairey’s famous “hope” poster, used epically by the Obama campaign.   Think about the impact this singular image had on our nation’s history.  Certainly an amazing accomplishment for a poster.

Now, contrast that with a look back on some of our nation’s first historical campaign “posters,” courtesy of our very own Library of Congress: http://www.loc.gov/rr/print/list/picamer/paPrescamp.html
