Backstage with Rome, at Musikfest 2010

As host of SteelStacks Live! for the past year, I’ve conducted my fair share of interviews.

What I’ve learned is that everyone has something to say, though not everyone is actually interesting.   But even more than just that bleak generalization, I’ve learned that sometimes a boring answer is the direct result of a boring question.

In all honesty, when I first started out, I had little experience interviewing people.  As time has passed, I’ve come to realize that for the people who get interviewed a frequently, the actual question is clutch.   Bands, for example, get asked the same tired and boring questions all the time.   So, when you change things up, people tend to open up… and its good fun for all involved.

With that in mind, watch me ask Rome Ramirez of Sublime with Rome, who would win in a fight, Chester Cheetah or Cap’n Crunch:
