Bronze Radio Return(s)

Fans of Death Cab for Cutie should pay attention. Same goes for fans of Counting Crows, Augustana, Blues Traveler and Modest Mouse’s less crazy-weird tunes.
Let me introduce you to what should be one of your new favorite bands…
Hailing from Hartford, Connecticut… Feast your ears upon Bronze Radio Return.

As my lame headline suggests, BRR actually played Musikfest last year, but I didn’t have a chance to catch their set. Shame on me, because, holy-wow, they’re freakin’ good.
Front man Chris Henderson’s vocals are straight-up haunting. His voice falls somewhere between raspy and delicate, but regardless of what you call it, his distinctive vocals stick with you (in a good way).
The band’s music covers a variety of styles and tempos, but no matter the approach they choose for a given track, nothing ever comes across as forced. Its comfortable, yes, but it also challenges the notions of current pop rock. It reminds me of a simpler time- when popular music wasn’t over produced and heavily-altered by technology.
More importantly, its fun. Simply put, their music is a laid back, really good time. Check them out, and let us know what you think… they’ll be at Musikfest this year on 8.11.
Oh… here’s another fun little BRR nugget- the band recently opened for Blues Traveler. Check out this video of an impromptu, backstage harmonica jam session with John Popper and BRR’s harmonica slinger, Craig Struble:
